How to give Creduna access to your Claude usage report
To review what you spend on the Claude API, we read your organization’s usage and cost report. Anthropic makes that report available through an Admin key. This page shows how to create one, how to send it safely, and how to end the access. It also says plainly what such a key can do, so you can decide with full information.
In short
- You create an Admin key in the Claude Console. Only organization admins can do this.
- We use the key for two things only: the usage report and the cost report. Both contain token counts and amounts, never prompts or answers.
- An Admin key can do more than read reports, so treat it like a password: send it through a secure share and delete it when the review ends.
- Deleting the key in the Console ends our access immediately.
What the key is used for
| We read | We never see |
|---|---|
| Token counts by model, day, workspace and API key | Your prompts or Claude’s answers |
| Cache reads and writes, batch share, context window | Your API keys themselves, only their names |
| What Anthropic billed, from the cost report | Your users, files or application data |
Before you start
- You need the admin role in your Claude Console organization. Other roles do not see the Admin keys page.
- Your account must be an organization. Anthropic does not offer the Admin API on individual accounts.
- A way to share a secret safely: your password manager’s share feature or a one-time secret link.
Step by step
- Open the Console settings
Sign in to the Claude Console as an organization admin and open Settings.
- Go to Admin keys
Choose Admin keys in the settings menu and click Create Admin Key.
- Name the key
Use a name you will recognize later, for example Creduna usage review, and create it.
- Copy it straight away
The key starts with sk-ant-admin01- and is shown only once. Copy it before you close the window.
- Send it through a secure share
Use your password manager’s share function or a one-time secret link, addressed to your contact at Creduna. Do not paste it into email or chat.
- Tell us it is on its way
We connect it, run the first review and confirm that it works.
How to end the access
Open Settings, then Admin keys, find the key you named and delete it. The key stops working at once. You can do this at any time without telling us first; the next scheduled review will simply report that access has ended.
When a review engagement finishes we also disconnect the key on our side, which erases our stored copy.
Common questions
Is an Admin key the same as a normal API key?
No. A normal API key calls the model. An Admin key is for Anthropic’s Admin API, which manages the organization and reads its reports.
Does Creduna call Claude or spend my credits with this key?
No. Creduna uses the key only to read the usage and cost reports. Reading them is free and uses no credits.
Where is the key kept?
Encrypted in Creduna’s database, readable only by the server that runs the review. It is not shown in the admin screen after it is saved.
How often is my usage read?
Once a day while the key is connected, plus whenever we run a review by hand.
What if I only use Claude through Amazon Bedrock?
Then no Admin key is needed. Follow the AWS guide instead and create the read-only role.
